CLASSES
There will be 2 classes (groups). Classes will be grouped by break out times plus the addition of
The Cheap Car Challenge Class
Group 1 break out time 1:.03 minutes (63 seconds)
Group 2 break out time 1:.05 minutes (65 seconds)
Cheap Car Challenge break out time 1:09 minutes (69 seconds)
EVENT FORMAT
The course will be conducted in a clockwise direction.
Practice / Qualifying will commence at 9.00am until 10.00am. Each driver may participate in the session, time permitting.
Part 1 will comprise of a 2 hour session commencing at 10:30am. Starting positions will be allocated according to the fastest time recorded for each vehicle following the practice / qualifying session. Part 1 will conclude when the chequered flag is displayed to the lead vehicle the next time past the start / finish line following the time of 12.30pm (time definite).
This will be followed by a lunch break where refuelling and vehicle maintenance is permitted.
Part 2 will commence at 1:15pm. Starting positions will be finished according to laps completed and penalties incurred during part 1. Part 2 will conclude when the chequered flag is displayed to the vehicle that has completed the most laps the next time past the start / finish control line following the time of 3:15pm (time definite).
ENTRIES
Entries are open now. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the race secretary.
Pheasant Wood officials withhold the right to refuse entry to the event or facility for any reason
ENTRY DETAILS & FEES

Entry fee is $775.00 per round (minimum 3 drivers per car). Entries received after the closing date will incur a late entry fee of $50.00
-
Please ensure entries are received on, or prior to the closing date.
-
Entries will not be accepted without the full entry fee being paid at the time of entry receipt. Transfer of entry is not available within 14 days of the event.
-
Entry confirmation will be emailed when the entry fee has been processed. Please contact the office should you have not received an entry confirmation within 5 days of submission of an entry to ensure your entry has been received.

Entry closing dates may change without notice subject to maximum entries reached.
VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS (GROUP 1, GROUP 2 CARS)

If it doesn’t say you can do it in these specifications, then presume you can’t do it.

There are no exceptions to the following vehicle specifications.
-
All vehicles must be in a standard manufacturer condition except for the variations listed below.
-
All vehicles must be in a safe, neat and tidy condition.
-
All vehicles are to be fitted with a full (6 point) roll cage. The minimum hoop diameter is 38mm with a wall thickness NO less than 2.5mm. Bracing diameter of 25mm. All hoop and bracing are to be tubular and of appropriate roll cage material.
-
Minimum 4 point safety harness is compulsory.
-
Race seats are compulsory.
-
Vehicles must have a build date of between 1986 and 2024 inclusive. Follow on models with a build date after 2024 are allowed so long as vehicle specifications have not changed in any way.
-
No open top or convertible vehicles are permitted.
-
Vehicles must have a maximum engine capacity of 2.0 litres and be naturally aspirated.
-
No rotary, turbo or supercharged engines are permitted.
-
No tuning of the engine management system allowed.
-
Air filters must be fitted, pod filters are permitted.
-
Standard service station fuel must be used, NO race fuels
-
Manual or automatic transmission.
-
Only production based vehicles with more than 500 units sold in Australia are permitted.
-
Factory or aftermarket limited slip differentials are allowed, locked differentials are permitted.
-
Brake callipers and rotors are to be as per manufacturer model specification. Factory upgrade brake packages are allowed BUT proof of factory option must be produced. Slotted rotors are allowed. High performance brake pads may be fitted and are recommended.
-
Aftermarket coil over spring packages ARE allowed.
-
Sway bars are free with aftermarket adjustable sway bars permitted.
-
Extractors are permitted, catalytic converters may be removed.
-
A standard (cross over) type muffler or aftermarket equivalent exiting the rear of the vehicle must be fitted.
-
PLEASE NOTE: Strict noise restrictions apply: 92db at 30m.
-
Dash and dashboard must remain in place, driver’s door trim must remain.
-
Interior including carpet, seats, headlining and rear door trims may be removed.
-
Tyres must be standard or road legal semi slicks with a minimum tread rating of no less than 200 (no full slick tyres are allowed), and must be in a safe condition. Tyre width must not exceed 225mm.
-
Mag wheels are permitted. The diameter must be no more than 2 inches above standard. Rim width must not exceed 7½”.
-
Must have one working headlight and brake / tail lights must be in working order.
-
If headlights are glass they must be taped.
-
Windows are to remain standard, if replaced with perspex / plastic a nominated weight equivalent to the missing glass must be added to the vehicle.
-
If a vehicle has a sunroof it must remain closed and taped.
-
Vehicle must have a clearly defined and operational tow point.
-
Vehicle must display sponsor signage packs if supplied.
-
Any vehicle found to be ineligible and cannot be rectified before race start will be excluded from the event with entry fee forfeited.
VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS (CHEAP CAR CHALLENGE CARS)

Bracing diameter of 25mm. All hoop and bracing are to be of tubular and of appropriate roll cage material.

Minimum 4 point safety harness is compulsory.

DRIVER REQUIREMENTS AND DRIVER CHANGES
-
Driver stints are to be no longer than 20 minutes, driver changes can take place at any time during the event.
-
No driver is permitted to complete successive (back to back) stints.
-
For each driver stint longer than 20 minutes 2 lap overdrive penalty will be imposed for each minute or part thereof over 20 minutes.
-
Each team must complete 5 driver change pit stops in each session resulting in 6 driver stints per session.
-
A 4 lap penalty will be imposed for each driver change pit stop not completed.
-
A minimum driver change pit stop time of 90 seconds will be imposed. The 90 seconds will start at the pit entry control line and end at entry to circuit. A 4 lap penalty will be imposed for each driver change pit stop less than 90 seconds.
-
All driver changes are to take place in the designated driver change area in pit lane as instructed at the drivers’ brief.
-
Driver changes are NOT allowed to take place during a black flag drive through penalty.
-
Driver changes can take place during full course double yellow flag conditions.
DRIVER ATTIRE & SAFETY WEAR
-
Drivers must wear an approved “Fire Retardant” driving suit. Driving suits without the displayed SFI or FIA fire retardant certification label will not be accepted or permitted.
-
An approved full or open face helmet AS/NZ1698/2006 minimum, must be worn and properly fastened prior to entering the circuit and must be left on until after you have entered pit lane.
-
A fire retardant balaclava must be worn with an open face helmet.
-
Fire retardant gloves must be worn.
-
All race wear and helmets are to be presented at sign-on for inspection.
STARTS
The event start for both part 1 and part 2 will be all vehicles present in the marshalling area then released in double file according to release order stated above. Those late to the marshalling area will start at the rear of grid. At the end of the sighting lap, the pace car will peel off into pit lane. Drivers will be displayed the Australian flag to indicate the start of the race, if the safety car does not peel off into pit lane, and the Australian Flag is not displayed, the race will not commence until such time that it does. There will be no overtaking until crossing the start finish line.
PENALTIES
Penalties for this event may include but are not limited to:

Drive through penalty (black flag)
-
Pass under yellow flag (drive through penalty)
-
Pass under double yellow flag (drive through penalty plus 1 lap).
-
Lap penalty (allocated at the conclusion of session 1 & session 2).
-
Driver change pit stops less than 90 seconds (4 laps for each breach of this rule).
-
Over drive time (2 laps for each minute or part thereof for each breach of this rule).
-
Driver exclusion from the event.
-
Team exclusion from the event.
BREAK OUT LAP TIME
-
Any team completing a lap faster than their allocated groups break out time will receive the following penalties.
-
1st team breakout lap will receive a breakout board with no penalty.
-
2nd team breakout lap will receive a breakout board with no penalty.
-
3rd team break out lap will receive break out board, and will incur a 1 lap penalty for each break out lap (total of three laps penalty).
-
Each additional break out lap will incur a 1 lap penalty.
-
Breakout laps are accrued by the team collectively, regardless of which driver was in the vehicle.
-
No penalty will be imposed for laps slower than the break out time.
REFUELLING
-
All refuelling must occur in accordance with Pheasant Wood refuelling regulations detailed in drivers briefing.
-
Engines MUST be switched off during refuelling.
-
Drivers must alight from the vehicle during refuelling.
-
All refuelling must be decanted from approved jerry cans or fuel containers only.
-
All refuelling must occur in the designated refuelling area.
-
All fuel spills will incur a 30 second penalty if self reported.
-
All fuel spills shall incur a 60 second penalty if not self reported.
-
An allocated team fire marshal shall closely monitor all refuelling.
-
An approved fire extinguisher must be on hand during any refuelling.
-
Standard service station fuel must be used, NO race fuels (this rule does NOT apply to the Outlaw Class).
-
NOTE: There is no fuel available at Pheasant Wood, however there are service stations at Marulan less than 5 minutes north on the freeway towards Sydney.
MEDICAL SERVICES
Medical services will be provided by Ambulance Australia. Any driver with an acute medical requirement MUST discuss their condition with the medical staff prior to your first session on circuit. Random drug & alcohol testing will be conducted. Failer will result in rejection for the event.
TIMING SERVICES

Timing services will be provided by Eldee Timing

Driver ID kits will be mandatory, these can be purchased from Pheasant Wood at a cost of $110.00. During driver changes the team must change the driver ID to the driver that is about to get in the car.

For teams running more than 5 drivers each driver will be supplied a personal transponder. This transponder must be changed during driver change pit stop.
-
If during a driver change either of these processes do not occur, the team MUST bring the vehicle into the pits to correct this.
-
Live times recorded will be displayed on the screen at Race Control. Results will also be posted on the Natsoft website. www.natsoft.com.au
AWARDS
-
Trophies will be awarded at each round to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters in each class.
-
Trophies for the series overall will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters in each class.
ROUND AND SERIES POINTS
-
Points will be awarded as follows:
-
1st pace 50 points
-
2nd place 47 points
-
3rd place 44 points
-
4th place 42 points
-
5th place 40 points
-
6th place 39 points
-
7th place 38 points, and so on.
-
Series points will be determined by each entrant dropping their worst round ie: series placings will be decided by the sum of each entrant’s best 7 rounds.
TRACK DENSITY
-
The maximum number of entries permitted will be the first 30 paid entries.
LICENCE REQUIREMENTS
-
The minimum licence requirement is a Pheasant Wood Event Licence ($120.00 valid for 12 months). A valid National Competition licence from Motorsport Australia or AASA is also accepted. L2s & AASA Club Licences are not accepted.

Any driver with no previous race event experience MUST attend a Pheasant Wood Circuit track day for an Observed Licence Test (OLT) prior to the event (bookings essential). There are no exceptions for the above licence requirements.
-
Licence applications on the day of the event will not be available.
PARTICIPANT SIGN ON
-
All participants are required to attend the designated sign on area in the café for document & licence checking. A completed Pheasant Wood disclaimer must be produced at this time. Wristbands will be distributed once participants have been processed.
-
The entrant will be emailed an event entry confirmation and a copy of the Pheasant Wood disclaimer. It is the responsibility of the entrant to complete the forms prior to the event.
-
Driver sign-on must be completed by 8:20am. Any driver who does NOT sign on prior to 8:20am, does not attend the drivers briefing or does not sign the driver briefing attendance form may be subject to a penalty (monetary and or points at the discretion of the Clerk of the Course).
NOTES:
-
If you experience a mechanical or other issue on circuit, except in the case of fire, you must remain wholly within your vehicle with the seat belt and helmet still correctly fastened. We will send a recovery crew to assist you.
